Recess Required.

Apologies for my recent going A.W.O.L. Unfortunately, between keeping up with both the rigours of the Germany university education system (during the week) and the goings-on of Berlin's underbelly (weekend-only), I'd be doing you all a great disservice if I kept on blogging as posts wouldn't contain much more than the inane fluffy fashion talk of "This is delish. I REALLY WANT TO BUY THIS" etc.

So, auf Wiedersehen for now, pet(s)...

I leave you with what dreams are made of - none other than Phillip Lim...

The EDIT: To See You Through Summer.

If Iron & Pin is what I'll be saving up for come the early days of Autumn, this next - admittedly, random - selection is what I'd envisage seeing me through the hazy days of Summer spent in the city

^ Baracuta G9 Harrington jacket (currently reduced at Accent Clothing, at £62); the perfect Summer jacket, lightweight and perfectly structured. Beige is not going to work for everyone (i.e. my fellow milky men) but those of you confident enough to embrace the nude, then this one's for you.

^ Humör Lago shorts (£49.99); since scrambling onto the drop-crotch wagon a few months ago, I am complete convert.

^ Wolverine 1883 taupe boots (£99.99); whereas others are advocating you spend your Summer in sandals, I'll be investing in another pair of boots that will see me through several more season, regardless of temperature. Plus - boots and shorts is a current personal favourite.

^ Left - Nixon Rotolog Stainless Steel watch; its dark-wood effect and overall sleek appearance has me enraptured, so does the price but whatever (£284.99) & Right - Ray Ban Tortoise Clubmasters; the perfect combination of wayfarer impact and aviator elegance (£119.99)

What are you investing in this Summer season?

All the above items and more available at Accent Clothing

Iron & Pin.

Now that it's finally short-wearing season, I won't have to engage with those things that are the bane of my life quite so often - trousers. There's something about trying on pair after pair of trousers that leaves you feeling oddly proportioned or thoroughly bored since most - within my budget's price-range - are either shoddily cut or terminally boring.

Iron & Pin, the brainchild of Norwich-based designer Tom Hayden seeks to set right what countless brands have messed up since the birth of off-the-rack clothing, by breathing new life into trousers and retailing them at affordable price-points. The entire process is carried out by himself and himself alone, with delicious, detail-laden results like the below-pictured...

^ 7:14, made from grey panama, with upturned hems and double-stitched inside legs - £59.99

^ Cold Cut, made from twill with a slight drop-crotch and tapered leg (and a logo you'd actually be proud to sport on the back) - £59.99

^ Lotte, made from easy-wear navy blue fabric with an extended right side which folds 'round and is fixed with a wooden toggle - £59.99

^ Drop-crotch trouser bag! A quirky one-off at the price of £9.99

Weekday on a Saturday Afternoon.

Almost two months in Berlin and I've finally made my first of what I expect to be many purchases. Although I'd browsed a couple of vintage spots over the course of my first few weeks here, I inevitably left empty-handed, conscious of my bandy suitcase and the impending move that was...

This past weekend, however, I managed to tear myself away from reading theory of comedy and scrutinising Chaplin's The Great Dictator (not - unsuprisingly - very difficult at all) in order to finally secure some Summer staples. Although both Zara and COS proffered some possibilities (deep blues, check shirts, chino shorts, Breton tees), it was, what I now like to refer to as the 8th Wonder of the World, Swedish store Weekday that truly came up with the goods.

^ Weekday's own label; the store also carries Cheap Monday, Collaboration and Vintage collections

And how; immediately entranced by both the well-designed stock on the rails as well as the frankly stunning clientele, I wandered through the two levels of the store collecting possible purchases. I brought around five items to the changing room and bought four (two of which are pictured below)...

^ Breton shirt from Weekday; chino shorts from Weekday; boots by Grafters, blazer from Zara.

More to come over the next week...
